To have a beautiful mind, you have to do things that make you analyze, think and make decisions. I stay both mentally and physically active. I take vitamins and supplements to keep my bones strong, and I exercise regularly.
I had a long career in government and retired after serving as a division director at the Social Security Administration. Earlier I'd been a lieutenant in the Women's Army Corps. I'd volunteered before but became very involved after I retired — the Health Resources Planning Commission, Judicial Nominating Commission, Friends of the Library Board, Hospice Board and many, many others. Today I raise funds for an elementary school that calls me their "guardian angel." I also lead a group that sends packages of needed items, plus home-baked cookies, to soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
You see so many needs. If everybody did a little bit, many of these needs could be taken care of.
